Swansea Borough Police.
A small collection of items
I have managed to collect from Swansea Borough Police which was in existence
from the 1836 to the formation of The South Wales Police in 1969. Swansea
Borough Police Force, like its Neath and Cardiff counterparts, was administered
separately from the Glamorgan Police Force. In 1969, it merged with the
Glamorgan, Cardiff and Merthyr forces, to form the South Wales Constabulary,
which, became South Wales Police, in 1995.

Swansea
Borough Police Helmet Plate.
This badge
was the original badge issued to the Police in the 1880s, in the
1890s the Chief Constable thought the badge looked too small in
comparison to other Forces and commisioned the Star Burst design
behind the original badge. This Badge would have been fitted to
the six panel type helmet.
